Old is New Again

Stemming from a creative prompt in a video editing class to create a documentary, I worked with my classmate Christy Hartner to create a vivid walkthrough of the history of artistic sampling using vintage internet assets in new mixed-media compositions today.

The documentary is lead by Josh, a confused computer/television entity, who wants to teach viewers about the wonders of using old archived internet footage and media in new compositions.

In the spirit of the documentary, most of the footage is repurposed old footage and archived internet ephemera.

The video was shown at a film festival hosted by Lawrence Tech, lovingly titled the “Larry & Friends Film Festival,” where this video took home the first prize for its inventiveness and quality.
